About RankingDiff

RankingDiff is a small, single-purpose tool: it compares two periods of your own Google Search Console export and tells you exactly what changed. Nothing more.

Why it exists

Most "why did my traffic drop" tools are quick to guess a cause — an algorithm update, a penalty, AI Overviews — from a shape in a chart. That's a habit RankingDiff deliberately avoids. Search Console already contains the evidence: clicks, impressions, CTR, position, and which queries and pages actually moved. Most people just never compare two periods of that data carefully.

RankingDiff exists to do that comparison properly — deterministically, the same way every time — and to stop exactly at the line between what the data shows and why it happened.

How it's built

The analysis is a fixed set of rules over your two CSV exports: normalize to daily rates, align entities across periods, measure movement, check for concentration, and flag disagreement between aggregate and entity-level signals. The same input always produces the same output — there is no AI model making a judgment call in the middle of it.

It also runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no database, and no Google Search Console API connection — you export your own CSVs from Search Console and upload them yourself.
